BANLIST

Effective as of September 25th, 2023




The banlist for 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' is a list of cards that have had limitations put in place against them, with some not being allowed to be used in official tournament events. This list is updated regularly by Konami, roughly once every three months, to ensure there is balance and fairness during gameplay. The official banlist can be found by following this link here.

When it comes to the 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' banlist, like many other card games, there are four types of limitations that can be implemented on cards. The levels of limitations include...



  • Forbidden - Cards that have been branded as Forbidden cannot be used in the Main Deck, Extra Deck, and/or Side Deck under any circumstances.

  • Limited - Cards that have been branded as Limited cannot exceed a total number of one copy of itself in the Main Deck, Extra Deck, and/or Side Deck.

  • Semi-Limited - Cards that have been branded as Semi-Limited cannot exceed a total number of two copies of itself in the Main Deck, Extra Deck, and/or Side Deck.

  • Unlimited - Cards that have been branded as Unlimited are free to use as long as they do not exceed a total number of three copies of itself in the Main Deck, Extra Deck, and/or Side Deck.


It should be noted that, while the banlist provided below follows the official list as much as possible, there are some changes that have been made to help add to the story being told here on 'Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Academia'.

A few examples of cards and sets of cards that have been added to this site-specific banlist include, but may not be limited to...



  • The Egyptian Gods and any of their support cards

  • The Sacred Beasts and any of their support cards

  • Any incarnations of "Exodia", including any of its support cards


Please make sure that you read this site-specific banlist as thoroughly as possible before heading onto Deck Creation to ensure that your Decks are up to standard. Decks that do no adhere to this site-specific banlist will not be approved, and any attempt to use such Decks will be voided.
